Sun Down Cinema is a SF Summer event by DoTheBay; and SF Parks Alliance. Throughout the summer Do the Bay has a series of movie showings in San Francisco iconic parks.
About Sundown Cinema:
San Francisco Parks Alliance, DoTheBay, and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema are thrilled to announce Sundown Cinema, a free outdoor movie series spread across iconic San Francisco parks. Special thanks to our event partners: SF Neighborhood Theater Foundation, SF Recreation and Park Department, REI, the City of San Francisco, Xfinity, Clif Bar, Anchor Brewing, Topo Chico, and SF Giants.
This event was on Wednesday.
"On Wednesdays we wear pink"
If your clueless at what that means, I'm sorry. I love Mean Girls, one of my for sure favorites. Every young girl needs to see. The park we were at is called Marina Green at Marina Yacht Harbor.
For public communities event the set up is different, then when in community properties. There is a real challenge when positioning yourself among a long list of local venders at these large public events. One thing I like to mention is that no one wants anyone to try to sell something to them. Another hurdle for Comcast is the reputation that they have gained for not being so great. Comcast is a partner in the complete series of these events in the park. The company can better position themselves in the community if they are present. It was my job to showcase and present Comcast/Xfinity to the community in a more positive way. I want my space to be fun and inviting.

So with all of those deterrents it was important to create a booth that is visually appealing and that attracts prospects. In this position I am able to get many really nice items or swag for events, People love free stuff but meaningful or useful things. I also like to have items that are relevant to the event. For this event. I chose Selphy Camera Ring Phone Lights, Pink bubbles, and because it was October it would be cold in the park by the water in SF so I also stocked touch screen gloves and glow sticks because it will become dark out.
This event has daylight hours before the sun goes down. People congregate in the park and all of the event partners set up and answer and questions for the community. We are there to support and provide the event for the community. This free outdoor event is paid for by the partners involved in the event. I set up a tent with a table and the giveaways displayed inside Pink containers. Because yard games are so popular in our market I set up a table with a giant Connect4, Everyone loves this game.
I also laid out a large pink rug and put some open seating. This creates a welcoming booth. It really works. People love us.
The event is so fun and so many people attend.
